UPDATE
The road contractor has advised that matters are likely to over run and work on the new entrance may not be completed until 3pm at the earliest. The club, course and facilities remain open but vehicle access will not be allowed until the contractor confirms compeltion. We apologise for any convenience this may cause.

URGENT NOTICE
Birse the road contractor have today confirmed that they wish to complete the road re-surfacing of our new entrance on Wednesday 9th May 2012 between 7.30am and 12noon. As such, there will be, without exception, NO VEHICLES allowed access to the course/club house between these times. Members, if they wish, may access the course/club house on foot and the course will remain open through the above timings. Please make a note for your diaries - any queries please refer to the office.

Would members please note that the members bar and lounge bar will be undertaking a refit on Monday 30th April. To that end there will be only bottled beer available throughout the day, which will be priced at £1.99 a bottle for this day only.

TWO URGENT NOTIFICATIONS - ALL MEMBERS PLEASE NOTE
Tuesday 24th April 2012
Would members please note that Scottish Power / our contractor will be working on the new electrical cabling coming into the club and its facilities. As such, the electricity supply will be switched off until circa 5.30pm. The club house will be closed until 5.30pm with no catering available. The golf clourse will remain open but members with lockers must retrieve their clubs at the latest Monday evening prior to the Tuesday. The intention is to have the club's facilities open again as close to 5.30pm on the Tuesday as we can. We apologise for any inconvienence this work may cause.   
 
WEDNESDAY 25th APRIL 2012
 
VEHICLE ACCESS TO THE CLUB
Birse the road contractor have indicated that they wish to tarmac an area of the new roundabout adjacent to the club's new entrance on Wednesday 25th April between 4pm and 7pm. As such, there will be with no exception any vehicles allowed access to the course/club between these times. Members can access the club via foot and the golf course will remain open through the above timings. Will members please note for their diaries - any queries please contact the office.   
 
 
5th April 2012  GUW Handicap Team Qualifier - Saturday 21st April 2012
This competition was posponed on 24th March. It will be a Stableford competition, counting for handicap purposes.

5th April 2012   Car Park Lottery
A chance to win a parking space for 1 year.
Tickets cost £1.00 each/£5.00 a strip, available behind the bar and no limit on number of purchases.
The draw will be made at the end of April and the winner will retain the parking space until April 2013.
 
Road Development (Entrance)
We understand from the main road contractors that they intend to open our new entrance with effect from Wednesday 14th March. This will mean that your journey onto the course will be via a new route as per the diagram on display in the foyer of the club. Works will continue in the vicinity of the entrance and works traffic will continue to be a feature as the compound is adjacent to the new entrance. Please take every care when coming to and from the course. Thank you.        
 
 
Road Development (Entrance)
As per our earlier note would members please be aware that over the next week or so, contractors will be working on the new entrance / the surrounding area. Please take care when entering the course and follow traffic direction signs, where applicable. 
 
 
9th Tee
Our contractors Bancrofts will be re-commencing work on the ninth tee on Monday 19th march 2012 with a view to completing the turfing / re-seeding areas. Dependent upon which area they are working on we may have to close the 8th hole for health and safety reasons.  We will endeavour to keep the 8th hole open for as long as we can on each day of the work.

AMENDMENT TO FIXTURE BOOK

Would members please note that the Clwyd Championships will be held over the weekend commencing 12th to the 13th May 2012 and not the 5th/6th May, as published in your fixture books.

Saturday 12th May – Prestatyn Golf Club

CLUB HOUSE CLOSURE

Would members please note that the Club House will be closed on Wednesday 25th January 2012 until 5.30pm that evening. The golf course will be open for play but no access to locker rooms etc hence members wishing to play on the Wednesday should retrieve their clubs prior to that day. Scottish Power have indicated that our electricity supply will be dis-connected from 9am through to 4.30/5.00pm hence the closure of the Club House. The intention is to re-open the Club House facilities at 5.30pm once we have had chance to ensure the electricity has been restored and all our systems are back working correctly. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - Tree Felling 9th Hole

Would members please note on Monday 21st November tree felling will be taking place on the 9th hole, therefore for health and safety reasons the 9th hole will be closed all day.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Would members please note that with effect from Monday 7th November 2011, work will commence on the building of the new ninth tee. The work is hoped to take at the earliest, approximately four weeks albeit, this may need to be extended due to weather/other issues outside of the contractors' control.

In the circumstances and for the health and safety of all personnel involved, the eighth hole will be closed to golf for the period that the contractors are working on the new ninth tee. In its stead, we will be using the temporary par three hole situated on the practice ground. If you have any queries in this regard please speak to the office direct.

1) Resolution - that rule 10 (ii) Categories of Membership & Subscriptions be amended as follows:-
a) The heading to be amended to - Categories of Membership (‘& subscriptions’ to be removed)
b) The following adddition to be made in paragraph one:-
The Management Board shall have the authority to introduce new categories of membership without recourse to the membership by way of a General Meeting of the Club.

2) Resolution - That rule 10 (ii) Categories of Membership has the following addition:-

I. Twilight Members

Entitled to all the privileges of membership except that they may only play on the main course during the period 1st April through to 31st October (summer period) after 5pm and 1st November through to 31st March (winter period) after 3pm and shall not in any case take part in any club competition. This membership to be available for two months only pending, if applicable, an application for membership within the categories a-h outlined above.

3) Resolution - that Rule 10 (iv) discounts be amended as follows:

With effect from the 1st January 2012 the following to apply:-

1) Those Senior members having been voting members for a period in excess of 20 years and currently receiving a 50% reduction in their subscription, will continue to do so until the end of their playing careers.

2) Those Senior members having been voting members for a period in excess of 20 years and currently receiving a 12.5% discount in their subscription, will see a reduction in the discount received over the next period as follows:- 2012 – discount received 7.5% / 2013 – discount received 2.5%. With effect from 1st January 2014 they will be eligible to pay the full subscription appertaining to their category of membership applying at that time.

3) Those Senior members having been members for a period in excess of 20 years and currently receiving a 5% discount in their subscription, will with effect from 1st January 2012 be eligible to pay the full subscription appertaining to their category of membership applying at that time.

4) Junior members under the age of 15 will be entitled to receive a 50% discount from the Junior Subscription. (as currently)

5) The Current members discount scheme will be closed with effect from 31st December 2011.

6) This may be altered at any time by the approval of a General Meeting.

JUBILEE PLATE

We are pleased to advise that Stuart Fisher & Jamie Durkin have successfully made it through to the Finals Day of the DGU Jubilee Cup to be held at Chirk GC on Sunday 2nd October. The other finalists are from Moss Valley, Abergele & Rhos on Sea. We wish Stuart & Jamie every success on the day.

FINALS DAY - Sunday 25th September 2011

The list / timings of matches to be played on Finals Day has now been confirmed and is on display in the club house. The first match tees off at 8.15am with matches every quarter hour until 11.00am. Matches then re-commence at 1.00pm through to 2.15pm. May we wish all of the competitors every success. Spectators are very welcome with bar and catering facilities available through the day - the Presentations will commence shortly after the last match is completed.

FINAL OF THE CROWTHER CUP

The above final will be held on Saturday 24th September 2011 at 10.00am with the tee reserved from 9.45am through to 10.15am. The match will be between Gayle Elson & Wendy Roberts. Both players are involved in matches on Finals Day hence the scheduling of this match. The final will be refereed by Mike Holden.

INTER COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The above championships are being held at Borth on the 18th September. I am pleased to advise that the Denbighshire team will feature five members of Wrexham Golf Club namely - Kev Matthias, Alyn Torrence, Rhodri Fieldhouse, Ashley Griffiths & Jamie Durkin. We pass on our best wishes and hope the weekend is a successful one.

INVITATION DAY

With a shortage of applicants for the morning shotgun event the Match & Handicap Committee have taken the decision to cancel the morning event. The Afternoon event is virtually full and will carry on as scheduled from 1.30pm. Would members please note that they must vacate the course by 1pm latest on Saturday morning to give time for the invitation day participants to make their way to the various tees around the course.

NOTICE OF CLUB HOUSE CLOSURE

Would members please note that Scottish Power have advised us that our electricity power supply will be switched off on Tuesday 30th August for the majority of the day. As such, the decision has been taken to close the Club House in its entirity until 5pm that evening. As such, there will be no catering, bar or professional shop services available through the day. The bar will re-open at 5pm that evening. Members may play golf but should remember that they will not be able to access the locker rooms hence they will need to pick up clubs/shoes etc prior to this date.

NOTICE OF COURSE & KITCHEN WORK

Would members please note that Course Maintenance work comences Monday 8th August scheduled to run through until late Wednesday 10th August. The green staff have priority on the course over this period and greens / tees etc may be closed to play at varying times. In addition, work will commence on the walk way to the side of the 1st Tee hence access to the course will be from the road side next to 9th Green / 10th tee. Finally, to tie in with the above mentioned work projects, the kitchen will be undergoing a deep clean on Monday the 8th August and hence the normal menu will not be available - sandwiches will though be on sale.

JUNIOR HILDA ROBERTS / R C ROBERTS - RESCHEDULED

The above competitions have been re-scheduled from Sunday 28th August to Sunday 18th September - tee times 10am & 2.30pm. (at the request of the Junior Committee)

DERBY CUPS - RESCHEDULED

The Derby Cups have been re-scheduled (following the weather postponement) from Sunday 10th July to Saturday 20th August - tee times 10 - 11am & 1pm to 2pm. A new entry sheet will be on the mixed notice board from today. (20.7.11)

CATERING FRANCHISE

Would all members please note that following a meeting of the Match & Handicap Committee it has been agreed until further notice that the first tee on Tuesday's weekly will be reserved for the ladies section as follows:-

9.00am until noon / 2.00pm until 2.35pm & 4.30pm until 5.05pm **

The 10th tee will also be reserved on Tuesday's weekly for the ladies section between 9.30am and 10.15am. Thank you for your assistance in this regard.

JUBILEE PLATE 2011 (EAST)

Would members please note that the round 1 fixtures have been received and are displayed on the Notice Board adjacent to the entrance to the men's locker room. Closing date for this round is Sunday May 14th - the home pair have responsibility to contact their opponents by latest Wednesday 21st April.

The entry sheet for the Jim Wilding / Daily Mail Qualifier is on display on the Notice Board adjacent to the men's locker room. This fixture is scheuled for Saturday 16th April.

UPDATE RE GENERAL MEETING

The general meeting was held on Monday 21st February 2011 - after presentations from the Captain Mr Keith Miller & Mr Myles Roberts - all of the resolutions presented to the meeting were adopted with the exception of the proposal to apply for CASC (Community Amateur Sports Club Status) which was rejected.

DGU JUBILEE PLATE QUALIFYING EVENT

Would members please note that the entry sheet for this qualifying event will be placed on the notice board on Saturday 19th February 2011 at 9.00am.

The format is Better Ball Stableford - maximum handicap 18 - three quarters allowance - qualifiers will go through to the match play round - numbers still to be advised by the county.

CARVERY SUNDAY 30th JANUARY

A Carvery Service will be available on Sunday 30th January from noon through to last orders at 5.30pm.

You have the option of enjoying a starter, main meal and dessert, or any combination to suit ie starter and main etc

The cost is £8.25 for the main meal with the starter or dessert costing £2.00 each. Please book via the office or in the foyer of the club. Members and guests most welcome.

RACE NIGHT 15/1/11

Would members please note that there are still a limited number of horses available to purchase for Race Night. The cost is £2.00 per horse per race. This is a very enjoyable evening so please come and join the fun this Saturday evening - basket meals can be ordered prior to the function - please contact the ofice or see the list in the foyer of the club.
