Wrexham meanwhile held a Christmas Fayre event in the way of a Canadian Greensome which was played last Saturday.
Winners were father and son combination Charlie and Carl White with the better of three 44 point cards. Second came Andrew Purdy and John Sellwood with R Paul Williams and Chris Marsden in third place.
Fourth place was occupied by Alan Guest and Carl Jones on 43.
A nine holes Greensomes event held by the ladies last Tuesday was won by Maureen Cox and Mary Hunter on 18 points representing level par for the distance. Second came Mary Roberts and Pat Purdy with a similar score but a less good closing group of holes to rank them in second place for the competition.
This week the frosty weather and cold conditions meant that the competition was deferred in favour of a walk around the back nine playing social golf which was much enjoyed by a hardy group of lady members.
