Like many local clubs Wrexham have now hollow tined the greens and top dressed them ready for the Autumn weather and the onset of Winter. A couple of cold days this week, especially Tuesday, illustrated the fact that it will be on with the layers of jumpers and waterproofs before too long.
Wrexham Ladies hosted a three Ball Am Am on Tuesday 13th October with the results just to hand. Of the three players, the two best scores were to count towards the score per hole. Winners were Pauline Archer, janet Lloyd and Jean Jones with 77 points from second placed Janet Brunyee, Maureen Cox and Glenys Wynn with 72 followed by Della Evans, Monica Jones and Anne Bale with 69.
This immediate past Tuesday the thirteen holes Ladies Open took place with an excellen field of competitors despite cold and windy conditions. Played as a fourball betterball event, the winners were Mary Bainbridge and Janet Lloyd of the home club with 28 points. Second were visitors J Brown and D Lamb from Frodsham golf club with 27 points. R Jones and S White of Royal Liverpool were in third place with another 27 but ranked on the closing holes, a system that also separated fourth placed Jo Davies of Wrexham with L Williams of the Vale of Llangollen who also submitted the same score.
The prize for the par threes was won by Monica Jones and Wendy Roberts of Wrexham with 10 points whilst the birdie twos were swept by J Brown and D Lamb of Frodsham who were also second in the major event.
