At the recent Annual General Meeting of the Denbighshire Golfing Union, the involvement of Jim Johnson, past captain of the club, was recognized by his appointment as Life Vice President of the
Union to commemorate his thirty four years as an executive member.
He took on the role of County Match Secretary in 1974 and that of Secretary of the
Union in 1978. He was a founder member of the North Wales Four Counties Golf Association of which he was President in 2008 / 9.
Representing our club, in which he was captain in 1983, he was
County
Captain in 1993 and
County
President in 1999 / 2000. He played for the county for thirteen years and is an active member of, and Secretary to, the DGU Seniors team for players over 55 years of age.
Jim served as Club secretary for eight years, retiring in March 2009, and this year was co – opted to the position of Council member for the Golf Union of Wales and is event organizer of the Clwyd Championships.
