The Wrexham Sunday league played in summer like conditions last Sunday morning which belied the fact that it was a “winter” competition. Winners of the pairs draw for partners event were Dave Muir and Dan Moore with an excellent 46 points with Dan making three four pointers in the space of six holes.
Second came Oliver Hughes and Alan Davies with 45 followed by Brian Moffet and Dave Jones on the better card of two 41’s, the other being attributed to Daniel Darlington and Duncan Fellowes who gained fourth place.
The individual rankings still has Paul Hogan at the top of the tree with 51, but Oliver Hughes has jumped three places on 48 to oust Richard Rawlings, 47, from second spot and place Phil Tunnah on 45. Fifth stands John Hogan,45, sixth Dan Moore with 42 followed by Clive Griffith on 42, Paul Roberts on 41 and Brian Moffett on 41 also.
Today Wednesday is the occasion of the clubs Annual general meeting which witnesses the change over of Officers and committee members. A full report will be in next week’s Leader.
Finally this week, a shocked membership heard of the sudden death of Kevin Hughes of Gresford who passed away on Monday morning. He had been at his jovial best at the “Captain’s Last Fling” social function last Saturday evening and our condolences are extended to his wife Christine, sons Simon and Brian, and to their combined families. He will be very sadly missed at the club.
