For over thirty years the principal golf tournament associated with the Wrexham County Borough Council has been their allegiance with Carlsberg U.K. to sponsor the popular Carlsberg Trophy event held at Wrexham Golf Club each August.
This year is no exception and the competition takes place on Wednesday, 24th August and is played in pairs as a betterball Stableford for a range of excellent prizes which include over £400 worth of golf vouchers, and memberships of Pure Active WCBC Fitness.
For just £38 per pair it represents excellent value for money as there is a meal included as well as two complimentary pints of lager from the sponsors, Carlsberg U.K.

The Ladies played their Caldecott Pattison Salver last Tuesday with a rather surprisingly small field of just five players.
Winner with an excellent score was Jane O’ Sullivan on 98 – 30 – 68 from runner up Sandy Reddington who handed in 97 – 24 – 73.
Twenty ladies did however contest a Stableford event on the same day which witnessed a win for Shirley Williams with 38 points from ladies’ Vice Captain, Carolann Jones on 37as a result of a card play-off.
The Welsh Girls Championships take place at Clays from 18th to 21st of July, the results of which will not quite be available for next week’s issue, but will feature the following week
