The latest Christmas competition at Wrexham took the form of an AmAm competition in which the best two scores from a team of four count on the score card. Winners of this event were the team comprising R Bennett, A Jones, D Phillips and P Jones who handed in 88 points.
They were three points better than second placed A Purdy, J Sellwood, P Harry and
W Wynne on 85. M Lowe, M Sides, C Blackburn and
S Taylor were in third place with their offering of another 85 point card with the team comprising R P Williams, C Marsden, R Godbold and D G Williams making fourth place with yet another 85 point card.
The ladies played a nine holes four Ball Betterball last Tuesday which resulted in a win for Anne Morgan and Janet Brand with 20 points followed by Mair Williams and Jo Davies with 19.
Meanwhile the November midweek Stableford for November took place for the gentlemen players last Wednesday. Played through four handicap divisions the first division went to Chairman of the golf course Committee Chris Marsden with 39 points from second placed Mark Garner on 37 and then Ray Merrill on the best of two 35 point cards, the fourth placed effort belonging to Dewi Sides.
Geoff Lang took the honours in the second division with his return of 37 points, narrowly beating Mike Parsons on the back nine holes. Jamie Seddon was in third place with 36 and then Andrew Harrington in fourth just one point in arrears.
Steve McKevitt handed in an excellent 39 points to win the third division with John Rowlands three strokes off the pace with36. On another 36 point card came third placed Andy Moth followed by Peter Wynn on the same numbers.
The fourth division went to Derek Collis with 38 points, establishing a three point gap over second placed Terry Lightwood with Richard Derosa a further stroke behind with 34. Barry Dicki8nson was in fourth place with another 34 point card.
Jim Johnson
